Choyong Voyager Internet Radio Review

I currently own the Choyong LC-90, and the A8W. While I currently don’t NEED another streaming radio the Choyong Voyager Internet Radio looked too tempting to pass up.
They actually call it the ChoYong Voyager G2 Smart BT Radio. And it also identifies as a BlueTooth speaker.
And yet on their website, when you add the radio it shows up as an A9EN. Then go to Amazon and you’ll see this:
“Choyong Voyager Bluetooth Speaker Wireless Internet Radio with WIFI/4G,World Radio Station,BT5.3, Electronics for Home/Travel/Outdoor mini Portable Speaker“
So during this review I’m just going to call it the Choyong Voyager.
The Radio
I’m taking the easy way out here. Instead of fighting writers block I just made a video. Videos are good, right?
Pros
- Small Form Factor
- Stable when standing up on rubber feet
- Acts as a BlueTooth speaker
- Sound will surprise you
- ChatGPT radio station and podcast search works great
- Simple Interface
- Uses WiFi or cellular (E-Sim or Physical Sim)

- Choyong E-Sim costs are slightly more affordable than my physical SIM
- Tiny bass port on the back gives it a little punch
- Easy to add stations via Choyong website

Cons
- Maybe just a little expensive
- Quirky at times – Note that I didn’t say “buggy”.
- Check for Updates button currently sort of locks up the radio.
- While the Choyong E-Sim package is cheaper than my Tello physical SIM it is slower to connect to the network. I imagine this is regional and dependent on what carrier it connects to. While it might take me 45 seconds before I can connect it might connect nearly immediately for you. I should also state that this is the behavior of my LC90. I’m not buying another E-Sim package until the one for my LC-90 expires again.
Final Thoughts
I’ve been using internet streaming radio for years on another platform (Lyrion Music Server, previously LogitechMediaServer). I still use LMS on our whole house audio system.
Ever since Choyong added the ChatGPT search feature I’d say that it is much easier to use than LMS. Additionally, there is no audio in my wood shop, or my garage, or outside when I’m working in the yard. This form factor is just right for slipping in the pocket or setting on the porch. Or for sitting on the table next to the hot tub.
I dig this Voyager G2 a lot! Recommended!
