PCBWay Printed Circuit Board Prototype Review

There are just so many times that I have used the venerable old breadboard to lay out my projects. And then sometimes those projects just stay like that.

Make Your Design Available
In the intro picture of this page is an amateur radio hotspot board called “M17 Project“. It is an open source board that the M17 protocol people developed. The project was then provided to PCBWay who can then manufacture them and then subsequently sell them. I wanted one of these boards desperately when I first found out about them. And then one day I saw the Gerber file and Build of Materials listed on the PCBWay site.
I quickly ordered 5 of them.
The manufacturing process took a little bit of time and I think I had to wait while a part or two was sourced but in a fairly quick manner I was holding 5 of these board in my hands.
You may notice the 40 pin header soldering quality. THAT’S ME. Not PCBWay.
I had the boards sent with no headers or antenna installed. Other than that the manufacturing process and final product are exceptional in quality.
So you can design your own, or take an existing open source design and have it manufactured or prototyped. It’s super easy and the price is reasonable.
What Else Does PCBWay Do?
Quite a lot actually. They showcase shared projects which really makes things easy. I can not adequately communicate exactly how cool some of those projects are and PCBWay puts them within your reach to purchase. Seriously check out some of the things smart people have dreamed up.
