SVBONY SVGO3 Action Camera

Up for review today is the SVBONY SVG03 Action Camera. SVBONY is a world renowned leader in optics in the field of astronomy. And they have entered the field of action cameras. This is a field that definitely needs some competition.

We all know who the big name in action cameras is, and while they make a great product, the price tag is equally great. In a bad way. At $139 the SVBONY SVG03 Action Camera is well worth taking a look at. It can also be purchased from Amazon currently for $132.

Some Specifications

I’m not much on repeating specifications. If you’re looking at this page you’ve probably already checked out the SVG03 on line somewhere else. But there are a few things I do want to point out.

  • Waterproof to 12 meters
  • Waterproof to 30 meters inside case
  • 4K Resolution
  • 1800 mAh Battery
  • Front facing screen for Vloggers and Bloggers
  • 20 Megapixel still camera with JPEG

I’ll touch on more as we go along.

My Specifications

At 63 years old I still drag myself outside and ride my bicycle. My route is an 11 mile out and back for a total of 22 miles. I started riding with a camera years ago so I could record a couple of things. Crazy drivers and wildlife. I live basically in the Croatan National Forest and on my country road rides it is not unusual to see deer, bear, yes bear, and all manner of other creatures. It makes for a pretty cool action clip if a bear runs across the road right in front of you.

So while my needs are somewhat limited it is super important to me to have a camera on the handlebars. If there ever is an accident hopefully the police can put together what happened and who did it from my footage.

A Quick Walk Around The SVBONY SVGO3 Action Camera

Many times a video can speak more eloquently than text. Here is my quick trip around the SVBONY SVGO3 Action Camera.

Additional Information

There are so many features and settings and configurations that it is difficult to even touch on them all. The camera can be remote controlled. You can add an external microphone (included). It can be controlled via an app. Additionally, it has multiple recording modes. I think there is something here for anyone with the need for a sports type camera. And the price is considerably cheaper than its big name competitor.

While I use mine primarily for bicycling there are so many applications it is suited for. It is small enough to take anywhere without it being an obstacle or drawing too much attention to itself. Perfect for the kids basketball or soccer game. It would be great for hiking and since it is waterproof you can snorkel or even scuba dive with it (in the included 30 meter depth case).

Night shots are particularly clear and I intend to set mine out tonight at bedtime and let it record until it shuts off. I live in a heavily wooded area and I’d like to see what is crawling around my yard at night.

Should You Buy One?

If you are a snowboarder who is shooting a documentary of yourself jumping off mountains, I’d say, no. However, for all of the rest of us I would say, yes. Especially considering the price difference that exists between the SVGO3 and the other big brand.

You are going to get all the customizations, and features and mode settings at less than half the price. What is not to love about that?

Lastly, I’d like to say that I worked on Optics during my career. If you’ve ever seen a movie about aircraft carriers you’ve seen the array of lights that are on the left side of the landing area. That is what I worked on. I know a thing or three about optics and gyroscopic stabilization. The SVBONY SVGO3 stacks up in a big way to its competitors.
